Cloth Diaper info....

I get many people who ask me for information regarding my cloth diapers. How I make my own and where I get my supplies. So I thought I would make a post about making your own cloth diapers.

There are a lot of free patterns out there you can search the web for them. The pattern that I noticed that I liked was the RRP but it was not make of PUL and you could need a cover.

You can always stop over to Diaper Sewing Divas and get on the right track. They have everything there that you will need.

If that is to much for you keep reading and I will tell you what I did, what worked for me.

I used  the La Di Da Diaper ( LDD, is what I call it) pattern. Fits JUST like a disposable diaper.

I  use microfiber towels from the auto section. (They are blue and white at WalMart and gray and white with orange thread at Target. ) You fold them in threes and then you can stack them. I use 2 during the day and 3 at night.

I use PUL outer and Micro Chamois to touch baby’s skin.

I use snap closings.

I joined coops on Yahoo to get my supplies for cheaper. The thing with coops is you have to wait.  A large group purchases the supplies then you pay.  These things then have to get made and shipped to you. At that point they are packaged and shipped and you pay shipping again.  Most if not all of these things will never be IN STOCK. It is just like you ordering right from the factory.

Notice I tell you these things have to come from the factory. This means the material has to get made.  Printed, laminated and rolled… The entire fabric making process

I know it sounds like a long process but if you have time then it is really worth it to go through coops.

If you want your supplies yesterday (ie: NOW) then there are some sites also.  I will list all these for you below.

I will say that making your own cloth diapers is really the cheapest way to go. The part that gets expensive is getting sucked into the fabric. Beautiful fabrics and little cute things for babies and kids can get expensive.

COOPS
Color Me Flannel - She carries flannel, and PUL for great prices
Notion Supply Snaps and other fasteners
Rockett Bumz This group runs EVERYTHING you will need to make diapers. Not all at once but you will find everything you need. Great coop leaders in my opinion.
SewIt Seams Everything you need to make diapers

STORES

As for the pattern I use that is a La Di Da pattern and it can be found here.

I am not currently licensed to sell diapers of this pattern. If you would like to check out the diaper fit on your little one before making them yourself you can purchase them form a local mama I know, same pattern that I like and she is licensed.
