Works For Me Wednesday - Orange Juice
This weeks WFMW is Orange Juice!
We do not use a lot of orange juice in our house, the kiddos have sensitive tummies. I try to stay away from it. I do like to cook with it. Since leaving a jug of it in the fridge does not last forever I keep frozen in the freezer.
I purchase OJ from the frozen section, the concentrated stuff. I just take out a couple tablespoons and mix with warm to hot water. There I have my OJ for my recipe!
That is what works for me!

My little big man
My little Prince is done with summer school. He did really good, considering....
My little dude has come a long way, we are very proud. When this all started we were told he would probably never talk well and that he was autistic. Nothing in between. All before tests.
See, E has been going to speech since the last part of September of 2008, he said his first word 5 months later. He was speaking in full sentences and caught up to his age group 10 months after starting speech. Now over a 18 months of speech and you would never know that he ever had a speech issue.
While I know his speech has come a long way there are other things that have not. We have many days where he seems stuck in an emotional rut or days where his sensory issue stops our life.
I have had many people in my life tell me that I make something out of a situation that is not really there. That I am not emotionally there for him enough and that I should punish him for the things he does that are wacky.
When your kid tells you "it is to loud" or "mama, there are to many people" and then acts out, what is a mom to do?
I believe as a mother I am here to protect my children from things that hurt them or scare them. That is my job. While he is little I will protect him from all that I can.
I also feel that it is my job to teach him how to cope with these things.
Since SPD is not really something you grow out of, but learn to deal with, that is what I do.

- We do not go out to dinner as a family
- We do not go to play dates
- we always carry music, a rice sock and headphones that block out a lot of sound
Do all these things make him happy, yep, sure do!
So as his first school year ever comes to a close, E has left me proud and amazed. I am truly proud of my little man. i am forever grateful to the therapists that we have got a chance to work with. I am hoping for a successful summer with him and that he will continue to wiggle his way to dealing with SPD better.

Quotable Thursday- Falling in love
Long time no Quotable Thursday!
Hope your week was filled with happiness.
This week's topic is Falling in love.
Just because you fall in love in the beginning of your relationship doesn't mean you can't do it over and over again. ;)
- The first duty of love is to listen. Anonymous
- A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. Mignon McLaughlin
- If you love something, set it free; if it comes back it is yours, if it doesn't, it never was. Richard Bach
- Love is a fire. But whether it is going to warm your heart, or burn down your house, you can never tell. Anonymous
- True love never dies for it is lust that fades away. Love bonds for a lifetime but lust just pushes away. Alicia Barnhart
- Love doesn't just sit there like a stone; it has to be made - like bread remade all the time, made new. Ursula K. LeGuin

Goodness....
Hey there folks! I am back home!
I honestly need a vacation FROM my vacation.
I had a blast. My hubby has a rather large family so it was a big hectic and leaves me overwhelmed. I never know where to jump in and help and never know who is coming or going.
Sadly, I did a total Mom Fail and have no pictures on my camera from our vacation. I was to busy watching my kiddos and trying to keep track of them to worry about a camera. Lucky for me there were family running around with video cameras and personal cameras!
On our vacation, we went to a wedding (lasted all day), Munchkin got baptized, and we spent time at a lake house up in Cedar Creek Texas.
Over all I had a lot of fun. It is now time to welcome myself back to reality and get back to the daily grind.
I plan to do short little posts about my vacation and bother some of the family for pictures.
Thanks for staying tuned to my busy life!

Works for Me Wednesday - Ginger
This week I am going to share my tip for ginger root. When you purchase ginger it usually comes in a large bunch that is a lot more then the average person can use.
So, I keep it in the freezer.
If I do not need a large amount I just grate it.
If I need slices, I run the root under warm water. Just a tad bit and use the potato peeler and get my slices.
Super easy and makes it last a while!

Happy 4th of July
Happy 4th of July!
This year has flown by!
All is well here in our family.
We are off to Dallas for a family wedding. While we are there we will spend some quality time with family, I really think we need it.
I hope to have pictures when we get back and be back to my regular blogging schedule.
Have fun and be safe!
