Quotable Thursday - Francois de La Rochefoucauld

Welcome to Quotable Thursday! It has been a while since I have posted one of these. I am glad that I can be back this week to share some quotes!
This week I decided to choose a person instead of a subject.

I hope you find these quotes inspiring.

  • A true friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire.
  • All the passions make us commit faults; love makes us commit the most ridiculous ones.
  • Good advice is something a man gives when he is too old to set a bad example.
  • However rare true love may be, it is less so than true friendship.
  • It is easier to be wise for others than for ourselves.

Have a great Thursday!

Kindergarden, Here we come

My Princess graduated from Pre-K on Thursday night. It is a tad bit unreal. I feel like just yesterday I was helping her walk around the house and showing her which color was what.

We have had a very rough 18 months in our house. Especially for Princess. She has done a wonderful job in school and we are so very proud of her.

Congrats! We love you!

Military Monday- Knots Soak City

At Knott's Berry Farm and Knott's Soak City on July 4th and 5th Military personal get free admission!
This seems that it is for active duty but that is one less ticket that you have to buy and more money to spend on the kiddos!

Also here is a listing from the local MWR here in San Diego

Menu Planning Monday

This week the hubster is in town. It is a bit easier to plan for good meals.

This week I got most of my meals from rasamalaysia.com
I love asian food. The only problem I have found is that the cookbooks have LONG drawn out recipes. I love this website because it has pictures and really good instructions!
Here is what we are having this week:

Have a great week! You can find more MPM over at orgjunkie.com

Works For Me Wednesday - Stainless Steel appliances

This weeks WFMW I am sharing 2 ways I use to clean the stainless steel appliances that we have in our kitchen.
Honestly, I hate them. While they look nice they are super hard to keep clean. If you wash your hands then head to the fridge, you have marks. The kids' hands, leave marks. Everything leaves marks.
  • The first one that gets the smaller marks out is a Magic Eraser. Works every time and is easier on the pocket book then the stuff made for stainless steel. Just go with the grain on your appliance. Mine is horizontal.
  • The second one is foil. You just take some off the roll and go with the grain of the appliance. This requires a lot more elbow grease but it gets the hard stains out.
These have both worked for me.

Happy Wednesday!

The joys of a PCS move

As you know if you are a reader or follow me on Twitter my family will be moving to Hawaii...

We had a hiccup with that during the last month. I wanted to blog about it but with so much going on it was put on the back burner.

My husband called me the morning of December 3rd and told me that his detailer (the person that gives the orders for the PCS move) approved for him to get taken off the regular order section to the one we are on now for the precomm (a ship that is not commissioned into the fleet yet)

We are going to Hawaii, those were the words out of hubby's mouth. SD (Sailor Dude) then told me dates and such of when we would be there. I was rather happy since it looked like I would have him home for about 15 months then he would deploy.

Then during our conversations he told me worst case scenario is that  the dates are not on schedule and they will send him to another ship....

Guess what....

That happened. The ship we had orders to is really behind so they took him off that ship and put him to one coming here to San Diego.

Since we really want to leave this place, he did some compromising and now we are going to Hawaii. For now.

We have to stay on board our current ship until Feb 2011, which means part of another deployment. Which means I will not get time with my hubby just yet.

We do not have a hard copy (on paper) of our orders yet (Millington Tennessee got flooded) so we are waiting on those. Things can still change though.

As of now we are going to Hawaii. Hopefully at the end of 2011.
